About

My work

My work is a reflection of things I find interesting, my personal experiences and my background. Prints, colours and unique new shapes. My work aesthetic evokes raw effortlessness. Distinctive and fresh with a bold statement utilizing cutting edge technologies and diverse fabrics. I aim to create confident timeless pieces, through which people can express their personalities and style. My mixed background grounds my work aesthetic and always shines through my work and challenges me to translate my 2D ideas from brainstorming and research to 3D outcomes.

My love for music, art, fashion, and culture can be seen throughout my work. I always use these values when creating as I think they are extremely important in my life, and whats better to show your love for things for these things through clothing. When designing I always hope that my concepts educate people who are interested in them and teach them something new and this also a way for me to learn new things.

My motivation when designing is: who is the consumer? whats the reason for this design ? and will it inspire?

I pride myself in working with a wide variety of textiles. I produce new youthful silhouettes inspired by many different research images and concepts. My work also involves a lot of self made abstract prints and other textiles such as embroidery and laser cutting and pleating.

ABOUT ME

Currently graduated with a BA hons degree at Manchester Metropolitan University, studying fashion design and technology. I am 24 years old and come from a mixed background, having parents from very different backgrounds and growing up I have developed the awareness of different cultures and how others live. Fashion runs deep in my family, from having self-taught tailers as uncles from Senegal to dressmakers and leather workers from Italy (Naples) as great aunts. This runs deep in my blood.

My heritage plays a huge part in my design and style, having grown up in such a diverse and run-down area of Liverpool, known as Toxteth humbled me and taught me so much about other peoples cultures and beliefs and I still carry all that knowledge with me today.
